    Well this Sunday J-money is not going to be with us, he is headed up to the Big D and I don't mean Diboll. He his headed to the state Fair in Dallas to eat fried coke, fried chocolate, fried pickles, fried pizza, fried butter, fried sheetrock, fried vcr tape (you know they gotta do something with them now that all the young people are using DVD's) and fried fried...yes they just fry fry and you eat it. I don't know how they do it, but they do. Eat up J and don't fall off into the deep fryer yourself good buddy! Anyways I digress, here is the set list for this Sunday.

Tuesday Night Practice September 6, 2011 - REVISED

Hey guys,
I am going to call an audible on this on. I take full and complete responsibility on this decision. Manifesto is a super huge song, that has been highly suggested for us to do by the Elders. So before we start judging it and picking it apart, I want to give everyone some time to listen to it, and let me explain the song to everyone. Further more, I just don't think I am ready to lead it. I have been working on it all week, and I am still feeling shaky. So we are going to back burner it for another 2 weeks.

Here is my suggestion for this upcoming Tuesday. A couple of weeks ago I spoke to Tonia about us taking over some of her powerhouse songs, which she happily obliged.
I would like us to get three of her songs back into rotation with new vocalists.

We all know these tunes very well so I think we should have ample time to practice them on Tuesday. Deb and Liz, if you would look at the current keys we are playing with and make sure they will suffice, if not, we may have to do a little tweaking.

Again, I apologies to everyone for the mix up, especially to Russ. I know he got a mixed message from me this week. I apologies. I think this is going to be great though.

   For the upcoming practice this Tuesday we will be changing up things a little. Tonia is not going to be able to join us so we are going to put Desert Song to the side.    Here is the set list for this Sunday. We are going to try adding on a tag to the end of "You Are". The tag is a bridge from another song and I have linked to that song below.  Eventually I would like for us to do the whole song but after I talked with Clint today he mentioned that this was a song the youth sang at camp and this part of it was very powerful. I have attached the chart for The Stand and I will get out a chart tomorrow that has both You Are and The Stand combined with a transition that will link the two songs. We will not play The Stand in record key, we are taking it down a step and playing it in G. I just wanted to get this out to you now so you could go ahead and check it out. The transition is not going to be anything difficult, I will get that out early tomorrow. When you listen for the bridge on "The Stand" look for the following lyrics:

Next Tuesday Nights Practice - July 26th

Hey Hey,

     Here is the information for next Tuesday night practice. We will going over a really great song called "Desert Song" by Hillsong. Tonia is going to be taking the lead on this one. We are going to be playing it a step lower than the recording, they play it in D we will play it in C. I have attached the link to the mp3 below and the chart as well. I want you to check out the video I posted down at the bottom as well. After watching it I started to gain more perspective about the song itself and just how powerful this song could be for the people of our church.

    Desert Song will be what we do one of the hours during practice and then as KP said in his email earlier we will also be reviewing "Hosanna". Tuesday Night Practice July 12th

Hey Everybody,

   I just wanted to get the song we will playing for next Tuesday nights practice out to everybody, it's a song by Mercy Me called "In You". This is a fairly straightforward and easy to pick up song, so it shouldn't take us long to get it. I am changing up the arrangement a little bit so we will not play it exactly like it is on the recording. The song key will match the recording, but the dynamics is where is will stray a little from the original. I have attached a link to the mp3 and the chart. Hey Hey,

   Great practice last night everybody!! I am blown away again that we knocked a song out in one practice. That really shows how much effort you guys put in outside of our practices, because without that we wouldn't have been able to nail that song that fast. Thank You a million times over for all the hard work.

Next Tuesday's Practice

Hey Everybody,

   For our next practice we will be looking at a new song for Liz. It is called "The Time Has Come". The song comes from a group called Jesus Culture and I think this could really be a great song for pumping up the crowd at the beginning of our sets and really allowing them to open their hearts for worship. It is really easy to learn and has some great dynamic rise and falls to it that will make it a lot of fun to play. I have attached a video of the group playing it below. Jesus Culture plays it for a lot longer than we will play it for, so the arrangement we will follow doesn't match exactly with what they have done. The key we will play it in is D which the same as the recorded key of the song.

    We have taken the block party recording and chopped it up by individual songs. Everybody did a really great job and it was a blast to play up there with all of you. The tracks sound really great. It is awesome to hear all of your parts, some of them I never knew where there and man they sound great!! Hello Beautiful People!!!

     First thing I want to say is this...you are all amazing, talented people that God is using like crazy. This past Sunday was an awesome time of worship and God Be Praised was more amazing than Jordan and I could have ever imagined. Great job to each and everyone of you and thank you for all the hard work you put into making it a great Sunday.

     For this Sunday the set list is listed below. We are going to be taking on God Be Praised again as our closer. We are also going to do Hosanna just like the mp3 version I have listed below. The sound they have on this version is so much more alive than the Gateway version. I will send out the updated chart tomorrow.

This will be the next song that we are going to be working on. We wanted to give you advanced notice so you could really start hearing it and learning it. It's called Healer, and it has the potential to be a very powerful song. Tonia will be leading this one.

We will be playing this in a different key then this recording, but definitely learn the song, it's awesome!

A few practice resources since we don't have practice this week

Hey guys and gals,

I wanted to send a couple of resources for you guys to utilize while practicing this week. We will convene next Tuesday 3/29 for practice, and we want to try and devote most of the practice to getting God Be Praised production ready. So really utilize this week to learn your parts and come really ready to hit the ground running with this song. Basically, we don't want to devote any time on Tuesday for learning new parts, if that makes sense.
